Solve : Error "This device can perform faster if connected to USB 2.0".? |
Answer» Hi, I am using Compaq SR1930IL desktop. Win 7 32 bit. Is this your desktop specs? http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00679548&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=3195124 Yes, exactly. But i upgraded 512MB to 1GB RAM, 160GB Hdrive to 250GB. Quote from: truenorth on September 20, 2012, 03:19:26 PM I may be in a position to learn something from your problem. I have NEVER heard of a USB port that could physically " it automatically ejects out and reinserts ". Are you sure you are describing the issue that occurs correctly? There can be a variety of reasons for a USB device not being recognized but to the best of my knowledge what you have described as taking place is not possible.truenorth Take an example of a storage device like FlashDrive (Pen Drive). Now when i connect it to my PC then after some time (random time like 5min, 5.5min, 15min, 30min, 2hrs etc not fixed) it ejects out and again inserts (not physically but logically). During this time the device (H:/ in my case) flashes like when we press F5 or Refresh in MyComputer (Computer in Win 7). After that one popup message comes out from right side of Task bar "This device can perform faster if connected to USB 2.0 port". Now, R/W speed of that device goes down to 1MB/s (max). I am saying it logically ejects out not physically. I hope this explains exact situation i want to say.Highly unlikely, but you may want to check the settings in device manager. Open device manager and find the USB hub and double CLICK it or right-click, properties. Then look for a checkbox that says something like "enable the computer to turn off this device to save power" and uncheck it.You might want to check out this link which claims to resolve your issue. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2529073 truenorth Quote from: Linux711 on September 21, 2012, 07:45:03 AM Highly unlikely, but you may want to check the settings in device manager. Device Manager->USB Controllers-> Then UNCHECKED all check box saying "Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power" but, no change. also unchecked "Tell me if this device can perform faster" and "don't tell me about USB errors". I think i have problem with my RAM/RAM ports, cause when i connects my old 512MB RAM then it works fine (numbers of popup messages decreases). After then when i connects 1GB RAM then it works fine for a long time (1 day - 1.5 day). I altered the combinations of RAM(s) in the ports of Motherboard but they are identical. Quote from: truenorth on September 21, 2012, 07:47:23 AM You might want to check out this link which claims to resolve your issue. I checked this link, its for update KB2529073 then i tried to download it for x86 (32 bit), it lead me to window validation code, i downloaded the genuine checker. It says this window is not supported by this version, please try newer version. I also checked link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2416007/en-us which has exact solution for my problem. It asked me to download HotFix which contains update KB2416007-v2-x86. I installed it but i don't think it did something for me. But thanks, cause now i know reasons for this problem "USB device intermittently disconnect and reconnect".Did you re-boot after installing the hotfix ? ? Quote from: PATIO on September 22, 2012, 05:43:41 AM Did you re-boot after installing the hotfix ? ? Yes, i did. Any change ? ? Quote from: patio on September 22, 2012, 03:38:39 PM Any change ? ? No, its just same as before installation of HotFix (KB2416007-v2-x86). It should solve the problem of race conditions between processors, but its not working. this same problem occurs to my desktop..plz help to recover.. |
