Solve : Excel corruption?

Answer»

I have been using Excel 2000 with Windows98SE for years. Suddenly over the past two days, the editing features have been corrupted. For example, if I click on a cell to START to Copy a block, the formula in the cell comes up. If I press Enter the formula disappears and I can then click on the cell to carry out the Copy. Another example, I clicked on a cell then Cut, another cell then Paste. The Cut worked but the Paste did not.

When an out of memory notice came up on the screen, I moved a number of sheets to another workbook. EXITING Excel and rebooting the computer has not cleared these problems.

I have been to Help to see whether there was a restore feature that I should use but could not find anything that was useful.Have you ran a memory test or hard drive test?I have just run Search and Repair in Excel Help. That did not change the situation. I get a message on the screen ANALYS32.XLL cannot be assessed. I will try and sort out if that is causing the problem. It refers to Microsoft help so I will chase that up. How do I carry out a memory test?some computers have it in there bios or you could use something like Hiren's BootCD I will download and run Memetest86 if memory appears to be the Excel problemMemory ISSUES in Win98 are from the OS mostly...I have got over this problem by taking the advice of The Office Experts on EXCEL with respect to EDIT the Registry. The regedit program took me to 'excel' which I renamed 'oldexcel'. The copying and other problems disappeared but I had to rejuvenate the File list. Thanks for the suggestions.
