Solve : Excel Formatting Question?

Answer»

Hey guys.

For my dissertation I'm trying to do a CHART. I've been trying this for hours. It's now 3:15 am so I beg for help!

OK I'm using MS Excel 2003. What it is I want to enter data in a MINUTES:seconds FORMAT. In format/cells I've tried the custom/mm:ss format but if I enter data (e.g 02:15) then Excel assumes 15 is the minute value and auto changes it to that:

Am I doing something obviously wrong? Any input appreciated. Thanks. If you to go Format, Cells, Time, and select the 13:30:55 format and then enter 0:2:15 in the CELL, will that WORK for you? Be sure to enter a zero as the first part of time; in other words, enter 0 for hours. Ah yeah that works thanks.

Is there a way to get rid of the 'hours' part display though? :-/Let's go back to the Custom format you were originally using and try entering hh:mm:ss (i.e. hours, minutes, and seconds) even though the format is mm:ss. If you enter all three elements, Excel will only display the minutes and seconds. Let me know if that works for you.soybean that has worked a treat. Thank you so much!

I'll probably be back with questions on my barcharts later! Thanks again.
