Solve : Excel holiday? |

Answer» HI all, I am trying to make a staff HOLIDAY register. I have it set so that if an "H" or "1/2H" is entered the box turns green. EASY so far. What I am looking for is a formula which will count every "H" as a 1 and every "1/2H" as a 1/2 or .5 so that for that month it will total all the "H" or "1/2H" entries. This will then allow me to deduct the total from the annual 25 days holiday allowance. Can it be done or should I go about it another way.......?Hey, An idea I had; use custom cell formatting to make it display as '1.0 H' or '1.5 H' while keeping the ACTUAL cell value as just '1' or '1.5'. This would then allow you to make a total, and subtract that total from 25. Try right clicking on the cell then Format Cells>Number tab>Custom, and then paste "0.0 \H" in the text box. You can still use CONDITIONAL formatting to turn the cells with '1.0' or '1.5' green. brent85. |
