Solve : Filehippo update checker?

Answer»

I've had the update checker for some time now with no problems. Today when I started up there was no Filehippo icon in the toolbar so I tried to check the APP. but could not get it to open.  The only thing I can think of that may have affected things is the fact that yesterday I UPDATED my browser to Firefox 13 (on the prompting of Filehippo).  Could this have suppressed the update checker somehow?   Advice appreciated.FileHippo is a commercial service that makes money giving people what is available for free.

Why not ask them what the problem is?

Here are this forum the general view is that you do not need commercial programs to do what you get for free.

Do you have already in place a proven backup play? If so, this might be a goo time to use it.I'm afraid I jumped the GUN with my QUERY - I've just started up again and things are back to normal - so all ok.

Huh? FileHippo is one of the most respected free download sites on the Internet. They do have commercial software listed but that is totally user choice to buy it or not.

Free - http://www.filehippo.com/updatechecker/

BTW I do use the Update Checker only I do not have it to run at startup. I just launch it once a month or so. An alternative is to subscribe to the updates feed.

http://feeds2.feedburner.com/filehippoevilfantasy, thank you for the clarification.

My intention was to say that it is not a charity and they have income from the popularity of their website. So some support might be expected.

Completely agree that http://www.filehippo.com/ is a great download site. When downloading I typically look for their site. And, I used their updatechecker for a time but my preference and an alternative is Secunia, also free. overthehillThanks for further comments and links.
