Some of the P2P systems will 'borrow" your connection and equipment without your knowledge.Have you got any facts to back that up? " Some of the P2P systems will 'borrow" your connection and equipment without your knowledge. " You said it so lets see your proof ; I 've never had a problem or fear using file and rtorrent : ) Time for your proof - later : Quote from: Salmon Trout on April 18, 2015, 07:47:02 AM Have you got any facts to back that up?That is the way it works. By definition. No proof required. S user consents to the terns of the P2P the first time he uses it. Id thew user does not pay attention, the P2P will upload materiel even after the download are finished. Most users and snot fully aware of this. Also, P2P with hog NETWORK resources by doing transfers at the highest possible rate. That is why it is called a torrent. It is not the same as a normal download. My nephew lives on our property, He would leave his laptop unattested and do torrents for hours at a time. I has asked him to stop doing torrents. He does not seem to understand what a torrent does. So I had to change the wireless password to keep him out. No no no ; after you download a p2p file has to up load so that users can then move on to some new file; if no shared uploads how do users get new files . As for ones p2p download how does that get hacked ? Used by others your dead wrong it never does I love and use filezille and rtorrent and its never failed . Only ignorant or stupid users are not aware of these facts: The Bit Torrent method of file sharing splits files into chunks. These chunks are shared between users who require them to make the complete file. While downloading a file a user is getting complete chunks from other users who have them. He is also sharing the complete chunks he has with any other users needing them. Once a file is complete the user can remove it from his "library" and cease sharing its chunks, although many do not straight away (this is called "seeding") All Bit Torrent client software applications allow the user to set maximum download and upload speeds, and number of remote clients able to connect. So not "borrowing" and not "without your knowledge". That is not to say that greedy users don't sometimes spoil things for others using the same local network, and of COURSE the owner of such a network should find out what the Torrent client is being used for. I didn't intend an attack on any individual, and perhaps I would have done better to write "A reasonably alert and aware user will know these facts:" "A reasonably alert and aware user will know these facts:" Which is considered to be about 37% of the population. Somewhat less in New Jersey. |
