4. Error: 1060 (424)

Steps to identify the issue:

1. Open the latest Microsoft.NET framework setup log file in temp directory

2. Search for " exit code 1060 (translates to HRESULT = 0x424)"
3. ALSO, confirm that message prior to the error line shows the below message:

"The specified service does not exist as an installed service. ."

Steps to resolve the issue:

1. Install windows update service

There's no "Windows Update" under my Services thing.

When doing this, I get "The module "C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\WUAUENG.DLL" was loaded but the CALL to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070005."Go to Start/Run and type in sfc/scannow...
Have your Windows CD handy as it will probably ask for it...
Re-boot upon completion."Windows cannot find 'sfc/scannow'. Make sure you tiped the name correctly, and then try again."There is a space between the command and the switch....

sfc space /scannow.......Ok, it worked now, but only got a blank cmd for half a second and nothing else happens.Quote from: freeforall on February 19, 2011, 01:17:09 AM

Good....that MEANS it's not a corrupt system file issue...

There.s also a CHANCE this may be a sign of malware....travel to our Virus and Malware section and post your logs...
