Solve : Free screen capture software?? |
|
Answer» I was wondering if anyone knew of a good screen capture software like Fraps that is freeware, but doesn't kill your performance when recording. Anyone know of anything? I was wanting to use it to record some of the game play in Flatout: Ultimate Carnage for my friend to see. He wants to know if the game is worth GETTING compared to Flatout 1&2. did he want a still-image capturing utility?Good question He's probably offline trying those trials.I was looking for a video capture program, sorry for being UNCLEAR about that. I'll post a link to a video I record tomorrow when I have access to my brothers 2GB flash drive. Thanks for the links, I'll get a copy of VirtualDub and CamStudio, or Taksi tomorrow. I'll have to borrow my bro's flash drive 'cause I'm too lazy to unhook the drive in my desktop and hook it too the USB to IDE adapter I have. I'm also afraid doing that a couple times would wear out the only cable I have long enough to run the IDE drive with the DVD RW drive, DVD RW is the master, HDD is the slave. I've seen some bandwidth issues on the bus while copying data from a disc in the DVD RW drive to the HDD with them on the same IDE channel, but its one of those situations where you just have to sit back and ask "What else can I do?". The answer is nothing until I get money. Then that money will likely go towards 4GB of DDR2 800. I'll probably get another 320GB hard drive, but a SATA one since there so cheap now, I paid $90 for mine in 2006. The BOARD only has 1 IDE connector, and four SATA connectors, but the only SATA drive I have is a 2.5" laptop drive that seems to be quirky Its 60GB I THINK. It'll work in the desktop, but it randomly locks up. Dunno why, at first I thought it was the overclock, so I set it back too the stock 2.66GHz, same random freezing, changed the drive to my 320GB WD ATA133 HDD installed Win XP Pro, and suddenly it worked. Anyway, thanks for the help, I'll try out those apps tomorrow. I think one of the problems I'm having is the simultaneous read/write actions between the game and the app recording, not enough bandwidth on the IDE bus to allow that. I don't know for sure though, it MAY be a lot of things. Like the fact that the 8800GS is a little bottle necked with my Pentium D 805 and gig of DDR2 667. In any case, thanks for trying to help.No problem. Did you try those trials? Also, could you post back if VirtualDub or Taksi work well? I haven't been able to try them, and my computer probably wouldn't run them well either. |
