Solve : Freezing Mouse? |
|
Answer» Hey all - I've been having trouble with my mouse. Occasionally, when my SCREEN saver come up, the mouse freezes, and will only work again with a reboot. If I put the computer to sleep and then bring it back, the mouse unfreezes as well. I think I MAY have a cheap mouse, and that MIGHT be the PROBLEM - but still.... Occasionally, when my screen saver come up, the mouse freezes,So you cannot get out of the screen saver? What happens if you push the Space Bar?You should test your mouse on different USB ports. And if you can, get ahold of a PS/2 mouse and test with that as well. Does the problem still occur? Thanks for the suggestions people. 1. I switched the mouse to different USB ports. It didn't help. 2. I don't have a PS/2 mouse, so are there other options I can try before I go out and buy one? 3. The only thing on my computer that freezes is the mouse. All my keyboard commands work. 4. The mouse doesn't freeze every time the screen saver comes on. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Also, this only started at the beginning of the month... so....I suggest trying a System Restore to a date a few days before this problem. Install programs, change/add hardware, update device drivers, etc?May I ask what I lose if I do a system restore? Also, I can't remember downloading anything other than a few torrents to coincide with the beginning of this problem. I might've installed AIM as well. Quote May I ask what I lose if I do a system restore? You may need to reinstall a few programs that you have installed after the System Restore date but none of your personal files should be deleted. Personally, I think everyone should have at least one PS/2 mouse and keyboard, just in case. These days, you can sometimes find each one for as little as $5, sometimes less. |
