I have a older laptop with ntfs format 5 gig drive running xp profesional.
no partitions and unistalled most of the big programs, I have less than one gig of memory, how do I improve my free memory?? Tried fragging but not much help.

I'm thinking your REFERRING to storage SPACE ........ You might be better to consider adding another hard drive for the additional storage space. Xp likes to see at least 15% of the drive free so it may function properly.


dl65 An older laptop with XP will STRUGGLE at best....what are the system specs ? ?I don't have the laptop with right now but I beleive it has the pentium processor
M family??? I beleive your right my proceesor probaly doesn't make the GRADE for xp, not sure of the ram size either but does have a 5 gig hard drive and beleive xp requires at least 2 gig.Post the specs when you find out...an older OS might be a good choice.will do THANKS Patio!!!I was also thinking of reformatting and making it fat32 filesystem???That will actually use more space under XP and Win2K so i don't see it as a good alternative...ok thanks again!!
