Solve : Game locks up?

Answer»

Ok i will try to explain all this in one go. i have microsoft flight sim 2004 just installed, The problem been is that after so long say 1, 2 mins it just locks up and i have to restart my computer from the restart button. In this game, it gives you a diagnostic tool wich allows you to boot the game in safe mode and play it, to see if there is a hardware FAULT, I did this and it didnt freeze or hang. But as soon i i start it the proper way its BACK to it hanging and freezing. So this is suggesting that i have a hardware fault. What does anyone think can be the problem, I run other games and DONT have this problem, my card is a Geforce Fx 5900 and i have all the latest driver and direct x installed. My OS Is XP Home with service pack 2 and i have 512 ddr Amd 2500 processer.Have you EVER been able to play the game in normal mode? Have you been keeping up wiht your Windows Updates? Have you tried updating your video card and sound card drivers?

[glb]Flame[/glb]Hold up there... Besides those questions, new thought... I want you to run a test from Microsoft for me... Here is the link... http://www.microsoft.com/games/pc/flightsimulator.aspx#sysreqs ... Scroll down to system REQUIREMENTS... You should see a button for the Windows XP Game Advisor... Click on that so it can run the test, and tell me the results...

[glb]Flame[/glb]I have Ran the program and the test comes back that my computer is far better then the minimum Required. Yes i installed latest GRAPHIC card, But not sound card driver as im not sure wich one i need. i used the one on the disc wich is from year 2004. my Card is a Sound Blaster Audigy 2, 24bit advanced HD 192khz/106db SNR
do you know where i can get the latest one for this card. Appreciate the help.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/303032

So this is suggesting that i have a hardware fault.

Just the opposite, if the game runs in it's safe mode then I suggest there is no hardware fault.
Sorting out your sound drivers would be a good place to start.
