Answer» Hello I have been all over the net looking for the solution to this problem. I have a friend with a 20 GB HD and he has about 3-4 gigs used. In properties it shows he has only about 800 MB free space. We have looked and deleted and scanned and searched for a couple weeks. Is there anyone out there who has had this problem and what did you do? System: WIN XP Pro 512 MB He just reinstalled windows a week ago... and it crashed once during install and so he installed it to a new folder called windows2. This may or may not be related to the original problem... but we would love to get rid of any of those original windows FILES. They DO show up when we use spacemonger, but i guess we are not quite sure if its safe to just delete the "windows" folder. (realizing we THINK we installed the current one to windows2.. it does show up as well)
Thanks gofergal.... Well , if it was my machine , I would be doing a format and a clean install ....... That will correct the problem . Remember to save anything that is wanted.
dl65 Agreed. A FRESH install can eliminate other problems down the road as well. What spyware/virus protection is in place also?same, but b4 formatting, try defraging the hard drive.. if it doesnt work, backup your files and format, than install a proper window Well, this is an old and abandoned post, but defragging is not relevant if you are going to format the drive and start over.
Padre, MAYBE you could find a more current post to COMMENT on?
