Solve : Having an issue with gmail in email clients?

Answer»

It was working not too long ago, but for some reason Thunderbird 24.1.1 stopped connecting to my gmail accounts. I have tried Windows Live mail and Opera, all with the same results. I tried CHANGING the passwords, but still the same thing. I have tried disabling Avast Mail protection and the firewall and still nothing. It just hangs at connecting and then stops, with nothing being downloaded or changed. I am able to log into the actual webmail itself with no issues, and I receive emails on my GS4 as well. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.Incoming Port 995
Outgoing Port 465

Are these your current port settings for the account ? ?Yep tried that and its still the same. It for some reason is not connecting to the gmail server. This is on Thunderbird, Opera, and Windows Live (this by changing it to POP3 since WL doesnt support imap). Like when I try to add an email address to TB, it just tells me incorrect UN/PW, even when its correct. My ISP is TWC and like I said before it has worked until now. Then you need to review what apps have been installed since it worked properly...and also consider the option that you may be infected...or your PC has become a spambot due to infection.
Update and run all your scans overnite...then if no change list all your protection apps on next Post.Im gonna run a High Sens. BOOT-time scan on Avast. I dont know if it will show me anything it fines or deletes. But if this doesnt work, then we'll go another route. So apparently, all I had to do was restart my PC. I tried to run a boot scan but it didnt scan anything and just kicked me over to the desktop. Hopefully this is not an IT Crowd MOMENT of "Turning it off and on again" hahaHopefully it's not an infection...Best of Luck. You have another PC that gets Emil OK?
Did you say your smartphone gets email?
Did you consult with your LOCAL service provider? Sometimes the service provider will block email as a poor attempt to block malware coming over the email ports.
Guys he hasn't been back since December...
