Solve : Help!! (DVD/RW drive problem)?

Answer»

Ok, about a month ago I had to system restore the computer - no problem.
SOON after, I was attempting to burn a DVD and realised that the DVD drive had not been installed since the restore, so I installed the drive and the Pinnacle burning software that CAME with it - again, there was no problem.

However, soon after, I opened pinnacle to burn a DVD and when I put the DVD in the drive and close the drawer, the computer restarted.

Ever since then everytime I put a blank DVD or CD into the drive the computer restarts and continues to restart until the disc is removed and when the computer opens up again, a message appears saying "The computer has recovered from a serious error." When I try to send the error report, it says that the report was corrupt and could not be sent.

Normal DVD's or CD's work fine, it's only when a blank disc is inserted.
The only thing that worked so far for DVD's is disabling the device, inserting the disc and then enabling it. That works until I try and burn to the disc and then it restarts again.

My Computer says that the drive is a TSST corp CD/DVDW TS-H552B if that's of any importance.

Anyone have any idea what the problem could be?!?

(Ps, Sorry if this is a stupid QUESTION or I'm missing any important information..I'm only 11 years old!!)

Try REINSTALLING the drivers and the burning software.
If that doesn't help, you could try system restoring again.

Try the first one first though and post back before you system restore A roundabout suggestion but here goes...
Use Add/Remove to un-install the Pinnacle Software...
Then go to Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager and find the DVD drive...right click it and select remove...ignore the warning message and re-boot.
This will automatically re-install the drive.
DLoad and install CDBurnerXPPro ( FREE ) and try a burn with it ...if it works good. You can then try re-installing Pinnacle Studio...
