Answer» Sounds OK, as long as it is installed when you reboot. Sounds OK, as long as it is installed when you reboot.Sorry about the double message....click happy!! No still not working... Ok well, other options....is an external cd rom drive expensive? It sounds like it is trying to find something but not detecting it....making noises. Funny though if the laser was damaged or dirty i dont understand how it could play happily DVD/CDs etc. GThat's OK, I thought you just hadn't seen my post. If it's still not working, but reads other disks, is the disk itself damaged? *slaps self for not thinking of that earlier* Check and see if there are any scratches or fingerprints, clean the disk gently with a soft cloth. Wipe the shiny side of the disk from inside to outside. See if that helps. Is the problem with all CD-ROMs? Or just that particular one? It may be the laser, but I doubt it.No its a brand new disk...dont slap yourself....it may hurt!!! All a bit bizarre. Ah well, thanks loads for your help Calum, really appreciate you taking the time. GQuote ...dont slap yourself....it may hurt!!!It's okay, my face is numb, it's cold in here . . . If it's a brand new disk, that's very strange. But I refuse to be beaten! Lol. Do other CD-ROMs work? As for external drives, they're not too dear, but it may be an INVESTMENT you don't need. Quote Ah well, thanks loads for your help Calum, really appreciate you taking the time.No problem, like I said I have no life . . . lol, I like helping people, or at LEAST trying to . . .It is bliming freezing!! I dont have any other CD Rom's!!! It was my first pc rom game thingy. It just sounds like it cant pick it up.... like helping people, or at least trying to . Well good for you, your obviously good at it (my problem excepted!!) lol. I have no idea what the problem is....quite frankly thats not a suprise. Thanks trying. GTry the disk in a different computer. Yes, it seems that the only problem is that one particular disk, so it should be the thing to be examined first, rather than mucking about with your computer settings, uninstalling drivers, etc. What disk is it? Is it a retail disk or a burned copy?As above. Would've said try it in a different computer next, but I had to go, it was late. Suggested by WillyW (in a PM to me) - are you putting the disk in the right way up? Shiny side down, that is. Might sound silly, and no OFFENSE intended if it comes across like that, but it's best to try and eliminate every possible cause of the problem, no matter how trivial.Do you have Adobe installed?
