Answer» I wanted to show my penpal my nephew, so I videochatted with her, and then he banged on the keyboard. I dunno what he hit, but he must've hit SOMETHING important because now when I press the letter keys, they come up as symbols or numbers. I am on my other laptop currently, but I don't have much time to be on it, since it's my sisters. It's an Acer BRAND laptop, and I think he hit the Function key, but I'm not sure. If I am right, what do I do to get it back to normal? If you can help, I appreciate it. Try turning off NumLock.I don't have that button.. it's an ACER mini laptop. What operating system? XP? Vista?
If either, perform a System Restore to a point before he started BANGING on the keys...Acer Aspire One?
EVERY Laptop (at least every modern laptop) has a NumLock key.
It's usually a Function Combination. For example, on my HP Mini, it's FN + Scroll Lock.Thank you guys. I fixed my laptop. I found the numlock key. I thank you all for your help!Anytime
