Solve : help with recording sounds?

Answer»

I have a new Dell computer running Vista Home Premium with a Realtek High Definition Audio sound card. I USED software called LP RECORDER on my OLD XP system which allowed me to record sounds played through my sound card (example: streaming audio). I've upgraded LP Recorder to the Vista compatible version but I am only able to record audio through the Line Input.

Dell support says it's the way Vista is supposed to work put the software company says probably the sound card should be upgraded.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?
THANKS.I don't understand, how you can record streaming audio using "LP Recorder", since I can read here:

LP Recorder has been designed with one purpose in mind - to record vinyl LPs. Connect the tape or line output from your stereo to the line input of your soundcard
Thanks for taking the time to read my post and respond. I don't know the how behind it. I'm really not all that computer smart. All I know is my old computer with XP used to do it, the new one won't, and the software company said it should with the right sound card in an email to me.I'm not familiar with LP Recorder, but there are plenty of free streaming audio recorders out there:

they all allow
They allow what?In other words the only option is to record sound from an external source through a line input at the back of the computer through the sound card.I don't know of any other way. Do you?If you want something to record 'what you hear' then try:
