Solve : HELP!!!! XP CAn't Find SATA PCI CARD DRIVER!!? |
|
Answer» The card is a Masscool XWT-RC040. I installed it on this PC a while back and it worked fine. The HDD I had my OS on bit the dust so I replaced it and re-installed XP but cannot find the driver disk!! I downloaded the supposed drivers from Masscool but the arent the same as what it came with it and when I FOLLOW Masscools instructions, XP says that it couldn't find the driver even though I had it look in the folder with Masscools "driver" in it. Now, the only way I can access my 1 TB disk is to USE an Ubuntu disk. Is there some sort of universal driver I can use for my controller? After all, Ubuntu has no problem accessing my 1 Tb disk. Any help would be greatly appreciated.you sure you downloaded the right drivers? I see that Masscool website's drivers are for windows 7 and you're asking of XP.Does it show up in disk management? No, it doesn't show up in Disk Management. To install the driver you normally run the setup.exe file. Don't go to device manager and tell it to look for the driver. There in lies the problem. I do not have the executable file. You're absolutely right - no .exe file. Okay, you downloaded the file xwt-rc040 (http://www.masscool.com/support.php?f=downloadCenter) - I assume you then extracted from the .rar file and pointed the device to the folder named 3x12 x86.... ? It should see the .inf files there and install."You're absolutely right - no .exe file.
