Answer» So I was just wondering: how do I hide programs from the "add/remove programs" list? Like, if you go into the control panel, and you click on add/remove programs, it will show you a list of programs that are INSTALLED on your computer. But I want to instal a game without it being seen. Is there any way to do this? If so, how? Please let me know. Thanks guysAre you not installing this on your own computer, or are you not allowed to install games?Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
Local the program in question in the left pane. In the right pane, right click DisplayName and select rename: Add Quiet so it will read:
QuietDisplayName.
No reboot or refresh needed. Open Add or Remove - the listing is now gone.
To revert, rename back to DisplayName.
It was beceause i uninstalled a game and it wouldnt come off the add/remove panel and it just annoyed me I sort of just deleted the game files improperly so thats why it was there, and thankyou very much Buscrew, it really helped and did the job and now I learned something new =)Yeah, I too have a LOT of programs that are still in the Add/Remove programs menu. Thanks for that Buscrew. For future REFERENCE...anyone WEARY of editing their registry can do this with CCleaner (install without Yahoo! toolbar). Just go to TOOLS, find the program in the list, and click on Delete Entry.I have tried looking for the program with CCleaner but I couldn't find it. I managed to get it removed with the registry though...Quote from: Carbon Dudeoxide on June 17, 2007, 03:54:04 AM I have tried looking for the program with CCleaner but I couldn't find it. So, it showed up in Add/Remove Programs but not CCleaner? How odd.
