Solve : Hotkeys on keyboard?

Answer»

I bought a brand new IBM Easy Access keyboard to use on my WINDOWS XP machine. It works, however the hotkeys don't. I've tried installing the provided driver, but it doesn't like Windows XP.

I've tried other variations of the Easy Access Keyboard Driver (i.e. the Easy Access Keyboard II driver), knowing that they probably wouldn't work, but they didn't, so, no loss there. I tried installing the drivers in compatibility mode, and they didn't work either, as well as trying Microsoft IntelliType (which has WORKED with non-Microsoft keyboards for me in the past). Windows doesn't have a built in driver for it, either.

Is there any wa at all, even if it involves registry hacks, and short of going to Windows 98 again, to get it to work?

If not, no loss, I only paid $5 for it, the actual keyboard part works, just the hotkeys don't.

Thank you all very much for your time and help with this.  Did the Keyboard come with a cd at all?

Haven't tried it on another computer, although I might break out the old compaq tomorrow and try.I would try reinstalling the software, restarting the computer, then check to see if it works or not.

If not, try the other computer.I've tried installing the provided software before on XP. If it's not run in compatibility mode, it GIVES an error and won't install. When run in compatibility mode, the driver installs, asks to restart the computer, and does so. The control panel appears with small text that's unreadable, and the hotkeys don't work. I'll try it on the old computer tomorrow.Compatibility mode? What OS is this designed for? Quote from: Carbon Dudeoxide on March 07, 2009, 04:26:28 AM

The driver is designed for Windows 95\NT4. Yeah, it's THAT old. It even came with a PS\2 to DIN adaptor. LIke I said, if the hotkeys don't work, no big deal. It's a good keyboard with or without them.Yeah, I don't think you will get the hotkeys working with XP.
