Solve : How can I convert .wmv files to .mp4??

Answer»

Hello guys, I have some .wmv video clips that I would like to put on my iPod, but cannt seem to figure out how to do it. I've tried googling "wmv to mp4 converter" and such but none of the programs work. Does anyone recommend a program (free one), or else is there a way I can do it without one. Thank you!

I don't have any recommended software but I think a search for 'wmv to ipod' will be more helpful...

Where did you get the wmv from? Is it possible the converter doesn't have the appropriate codec to read the file.

What VERSION of Windows is this?I got the file from another website. It is listed as filename.wmv

i have windows xp

i tried maybe 3 or 4 converters, and im not sure if there was a codec PROBLEM or how i would even diagnose that. Most converters would create an mp4 file to my desktop, as i asked, but this file would do nothing when opened.

One program made the mp4 file, and played 26seconds perfectly in quiktime before the visual cut out and all there was was sound.'
This is why i think i just need a better program, because i believe i am doing everything RIGHT. But what do i know.'
Thanks for the reply, C0-dude, and when i get home this afternoon ill try that search. Some interesting results here as well:

Link.I use Videora: http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/
Works well. Thanks, ill give it a try. Here is my update in case anyone else is interested.

Videora seemed great with EASY set up and everything, but after encoutnering many errors on setup I had to troubleshoot and change some settings to get it to even try and convert. THen, it said it would take 13 hours to convert a 15min video...

I then went to the link provided earlier in this thread and found this program.

I just converted the 15min video in about 5 MIN and it plays on my iPod just fine. Thanks guys for the help, I really appreciate it.No problem.
