Solve : How can I get Outlook 2003 to open directly to the calendar view??

Answer»

I just got a new work computer running Windows XP and Microsoft Outlook 2003. My previous computer was also running XP but had an older Outlook version.

My pet peeve with the new Outlook is that it automatically OPENS to the Mail section. All I use it for is the calendar. Every time I open it, I see the useless "mail" section and have to click "calendar" to actually get to what I use.

My old work computer and my home computer (both running older versions) both open directly to the calendar view, which is perfect. I'm not sure if that is how they came originally or whether I somehow set it up to open that WAY, as it has been years since I began using the programs on those computers.

In any case, I've been through all the settings and have searched and searched online for an answer as to how to get Outlook 2003 to just simply open to the calendar view instead of the mail view. Anyone who can help will receive undying gratitude in return (and perhaps some KARMA?!). I think I have good news for you. Tools, Options, Other, Advanced Options (button), Browse (button), and select Calendar. Click OK, OK, ..., until all panels CLOSED. On the Tools menu, click options.
Click the Other tab, and then click Advanced Options.
Under General Settings, next to the 'Startup in this folder' box, click Browse.
In the Select Folder dialog box, select the folder you want to appear when you start Outlook.

I thought that was the gratitude. I was hoping for a quantifiable allotment of karma. I need it for an experiment.
Your Karma ran over my Dogma...
That's where it went.
