Solve : How can I put my computer in the hibernate status??

Answer»

I use xp professional service pack 2.0.
I know that you can put your computer in the hibernate status by just clicking on the shutdown incon than hold shift than I should have the option to hibernate.(this does work in xp home edition)
But I don't have that option I think its because I work with xp professional.
is there any way how i can put my computer in hibernate maybe with dos but I didn't find how.
and msconfig is only for startup isn't it?
What else can I do? Go to Control Panel, Power Options. See a tab for Hibernate? Select it. Is the box for "Enable hiberntion" checked? If not, check it, click Apply and OK.I can't its in grey color the one you can't adjust
it gives the erros mesage "To adjust power management SETTINGS,close microsoft windows xp power options and use toshiba power save"
toshiba power save won't open. what should I do now?
Do you know how to access your BIOS settings? You may need to enable power management features in your BIOS. Exactly what model is your computer? If you have no documentation on BIOS features in your computer, visit their website and try to find info on it. However, if you go ahead and access the BIOS, browse through the screens and look for a power management setting.

Do not change anything else but the power management setting and make a note of the setting in effect before you made a change, in case you need to set it back to the original setting.

A reference: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/bios_manufacturer.htmIts a Toshiba Tecra M1
and no I don't know how to access my BIOS is this differend for every PC?
Can I find it on the site you have given me?OK i found it on the Toshiba site.
thank you very muchYou're welcome. Let us know how it turns out. Did you find a BIOS setting for power management?Yes if found those settings and i've shanged them from full power to user settings
but It still would'nt open.
the next thing I did was putting it back to full power.
I think I'm just screwed don't I?Did you find this part of Toshiba's website?: Tecra M1 I think that laptop surely is capable of HIBERNATING and I still suspect there's some setting that NEEDS to be changed. But, I haven't actually used Toshiba laptops.

Stay tuned. Let's see whether someone else from the posse arrives. Is this copy of XP Pro from a shiney CD that says Microsoft all over it?It's the real version of windows xp and I went to that part of the toshiba site.
I can't install any updates because they alway start from tecra M3.
