Answer» I use a dial up connection and consequently it pays to receive as short email messages as possible. I have been GETTING an email lately that must contain a video or something to take a long, long time to download. I use Outlook Express 6 and my question is this. How can I know beforehand how big a message is so I can REFUSE the huge ones and not commit to downloading them. Thanks for any help.Just skip any that show having an attachment included...symbol is usually a paperclip.Hey patio, thanks for the reply. As far as I can tell the video, or whatever it is, is in the body of the email......not carried as an attachment. Any more thoughts? Can you view your email via web browser? This is also called webmail. Some popular email SERVICES, such as hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, and Google's Gmail are normally accessed via webmail. But, many email accounts PROVIDED by ISP's (Internet Service Providers) also allow accessing email both by email client such as Outlook Express or by logging on to your account via web browser interface.
My point is, if you can access your email account via web browser, you can see what's waiting to downloaded to Outlook Express before you download it and identify messages containing large attachments or have large files even though they have no attachment, and you can delete them before downloading messages to Outlook Express.Excellent point Soybean... Had not thought of that. Thanks, soybean. I use Earthlink and they do have what you SAY. I did go to the web mail and found the culprit. It solved the problem. Thanks, again. We absolutely love success stories here... Stop back anytime !
