Solve : How to create a new DVD from an old ??

Answer»

Dear friends,

this is my question: I have 3-4 old DVD and I want to use only some parts of them to create a new DVD. Maybe it SEEMS easy for you but I am not so able with the PC.

My OS is Win XP SP 2.
I have the following programs on my computer:
SoftPepper Video converter (to convert the old DVD files in a FORMAT that I can manage for ex. ".avi"),
Windows Movie Maker ( to work with the .avi files , cut, add, copy, paste and so on ),
Deep Burner to burn the final DVD when I have finished.
Is it CORRECT ?
Can you ,please, help me and suggest all the procedure step-by-step?

Thank you in advance and best regards.

BenedettoI don't think I understand what you are trying to do. Are you trying to write on a part of a used disc?
If that is what you are trying to do, I highly doubt it is possible because if you burn on the outside half of the disc and have old data on the inner half, usually all dvd players start reading the inner half. You will need to teach the burner and reader to read and write completly oppisite.two softwares you will need and they are free to download: Dvd Shrink 3.2 and decrypter43 (something like that, I found Anydvd is a simple and very good alternative)

Decrypter program used to break the copyright code if your old dvds are protected. This program normally runs in the background.

use "reauthor" mode in Dvd Shrink to choose "chapter" or "title" that you want to copy. You need to play with it to get used to it. SAVE all the parts that you want to keep onto your main hard drive. After you've done this, close and reopen dvd shrink again and use "reauthor" mode to add all the parts that you have coppied earlier to make a new dvd. Good luck! Play around with dvd Shrink it's a cool and free program OK, thank you, I found DVD Shrink 3.2 and it works very good.
It was just what I was trying to do.

Best regards

Benedetto
