Solve : How to open MS work (that's not word) files.?

Answer»

Since some unknown gremlin garfed up Word for me I have downloaded Open Office.Org. This program is swell and I intend to stick with it for the duration. I will be tricked by Microsoft no more! However there is one problem that lingers: I have a number of old Microsoft WORK files that I need to convert to a format that OO.org can understand. There is a boatload of converters included with OO.org, but Work is not AMONG them.
Does anyone know a solution for this? This came up in a search: http://www.oooninja.com/2008/02/word-2007-docx-converter-oxygenoffice.htmlOpen the MS Work Documents and Export them as MSWord 97 (*.doc) then you should be able to open or import them to the OO.org format.

This would work if the OP STILL had Word....Get Go-oo: http://go-oo.org/Quote from: Broni on September 12, 2008, 08:54:01 PM

Your title says, "MS work (that's not word) files", but you refer to Word in your message. Are these Word (.doc) files or Works word processing files, which I believe would be .WPS files?

OO will open Word files, but not .wps files. Once a Word file is opened in OO, you then save it as an .odt file. You can also try OxygenOffice: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ooop
I know also, that Open Office 3 beta can handle M$ Office 2007 format, but I'm not sure about wps files. You may check it out.BTW GO-OO downloads for me WITHOUT a problem.Quote from: Broni on September 13, 2008, 07:31:27 PM
