Solve : How will my computer run on crysis??

Answer»

Whats up, I just bought a new computer (in the mail as we speek) with:
1. core 2 duo (e4500)
2. XFX Nvidia GeForce 9600gt
3. PCI Express compatable motherboard
4. 2GB GDDR2 RAM

I'm just wondering how my new computer will do on crysis and what settings won't kill it.. ThanksCrysis System Requirements - Official

GPU - NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS/640 or similar

* Supported Processors: Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz (3.2 GHz for Vista) or faster, Intel Core 2.0 GHz (2.2 GHz for Vista) or faster, AMD Athlon 2800+ (3200+ for Vista) or faster.

** Supported chipsets: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT or greater; ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (Radeon X800 Pro for Vista) or greater. Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported. INTEGRATED chipsets are not supported. Updates to your video and sound card drivers may be required.

Your computer is really good and it will be able to run the game with the game cranked at highest settings since it's about at the recommended system requirements! Quote

no, no it will not. those are the recommended settings in order to get decent gameplay at a decent framerate.

with your specs [emailprotected], i believe medium graphics settings will be the highest that you can get before the game starts to get laggy.

i believe you meant to say DDR2 RAM, GDDR2 is a type of graphics memory.Hmm I was hoping to play on at least high settings to do the game justice.. what would be the first things to replace/ add/ upgrade if you were me?what about the highest graphical settings at the lowest resolution? That's still gonna be laggy?Quote from: [emailprotected] on April 24, 2008, 11:16:34 PM

CPU and graphics card.

i would replace the CPU with an E8400 and the graphics card with 9800GTX or a 8800GTX. if you want to get a little cheaper on the graphics card without loosing hardly any performance, the 8800GTS 512mb would be the best choice.Sounds good, I'm still a little confused about the pci express 2.0 though. My graphics card has 2.0 technology.. Do I need a motherboard w/ pci express 2.0 technology also or are they all just pci express motherboards?pci express 2.0 cards and slots are backward compatible. You just won't be able to use it to the full capacity.Oh ok so there are pci express 2.0 "slots" on motherboards..? And then you install a pci express 2.0 "graphics card" to go with it? Sry.. NEWB question, but I need to know if I have to get a new motherboard for my 9600gt..no you do not need a new motherboard. the "2.0" just means that if you have newer 2.0 slots, it will take advantage of the newer technology and run faster.

But if you don't have an older non 2.0 slot, you can still use the 9600gt but it won't be as fast.

But I think you will be just as happy anyway if you do have a motherboard with a non 2.0 pci express slot.I was just looking it up and it says that a regular pci express port has half the bandwith or something of the pci express 2.0.. Does that mean that it's going to run at 1/2 the speed?Quote from: [emailprotected] on April 25, 2008, 08:01:27 PM

no. the graphics cards are not yet fast enough to take full advantage of PCI-E 2.0. there is a difference in performance between PCI-E 1.0 and PCI-E 2.0 but it is fairly SLIM. i would not base the decision of GETTING a new motherboard on it having PCI-E 2.0 or not.Quote from: homer on April 25, 2008, 09:02:34 PM

The motherboard you have is probably just fine. As long as you have the DDR2 memory slots, a PCI slot for your card then that is all good. You just need a motherboard that can handle your hardware. Then it all goes down to how well your computer responds to the hardware. That's all because your hardware as is looks fine so don't worry that you lose a bit of performance just because you don't have that "2.0" thing.Nice.. that makes me feel better that I dont have to go out and spend another $175 hahaQuote from: [emailprotected] on April 25, 2008, 09:58:25 PM

that's cool ^_^ You might just turn the resolutions down a bit and KEEP everything else high. Depends on how your computer runs with crysis.
