Solve : Game Performance Problem?

Answer»

So, I've been having this problem quite a lot recently..

My computer is a Mid-High end Computer, Toshiba.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2450M CPU 2.50GHz
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit
Nvidia GeForce GT 525M
8.2 GB RAM.

Sometimes, When I'm playing League of legends, Tera, Darksiders 2, Black Ops 2, or most of the games. My pc starts freezing and running game really slow, Like going from 50 FPS to 3 fps, and then just stays at 3 fps until I restart my computer.. This happens in any game I play.

I have updated drivers.
It heats up a LITTLE, since it's a labtop, goes to 80º to 90º, but never shutdown.

Anyway, any solution for this? I've looked everywhere and can't a find a decent solution.

Best Regards and Thanks

Here is a question for you. Where or how did you get the games? .
If you paid fill retail price you are entitled to support from the vendor or maker of the program. On the other side, sample games , free games and trial  games do not have support. So they won't help you with a problem discovered later on, after the first release of the program.

I'd suggest checking memory and system temps. Speedfan is a great tool to check on temps of CPU and GPU, and Memtest86 will point out of you have a memory stick that is not playing well with others. Problems like this are usually temp or memory related. If you're getting a reading of 90ºC, you're likely reaching the upper limit of what the laptop's acceptable operating temperature is. For most laptops, this is 85-95ºC (depends on the model). What's likely happening is you're reaching the temperature limit and the computer is throttling down the CPU and/or GPU in an effort to reduce heat, which would explain the drop in FPS while gaming.

I would suggest getting some kind of cooling pad for it to help circulate the AIR under the machine. Newegg.com has an excellent selection of these from around $7 to $99, depending on quality and features of the product. I can't promise this is going to solve your problem, but it's a good place to start.

This is the main reason laptops just don't make very good gaming machines.

As DaveLembke mentioned, it could also be a memory issue, so you can test that as well. You'll find a link to Memtest86 in my signature, free download. Just burn the ISO to a CD and boot from the CD. Let it run a few passes at least, but probably not necessary to do more than 6-8 passes.I've run into this before. DROVE me nuts before I discovered that my laptop's cpu fan has little copper fins on its heatsink leading out. Fine. Well, they get clogged with dust every few months!

So...the moral of that story is, check the air flow out of the CPU. Personally I have to significantly disassemble the laptop to clean it out, but depending on how your machine is built and how comfortable you are opening electronics, you might want to have someone else examine it.
