Solve : I am looking for a usb-serial driver..."usb-serial controller"? |
Answer» I have a 7-port usb hub. Belkin f5u237. i have not used it for some time and cannot seem to find the driver anywhere. Went to the website ...nothing. windows says need driver for a "usb-serial controller" Can anyone help? I am using windows xp pro and windows server 2003. Let me know if there is more INFO needed. Thanks, DimarrcoHi dimarrco, For USB HUBS there is generally no driver update needed to use the hub. Windows XP should provide that by DEFAULT, and I did look on the Belkin site, and they verified that there is no downloadable driver available. Now, I have a couple of things for you to do to hopefully make your USB hub work. Go to your control panel, switch to Classic View (top left option after control panel is open) if it's not already enabled, and open up System. Go to the Hardware tab, and click on the Device Manager button. Look for "USB-Serial Controller" entry and right click on it, and click on "Update Driver..." and it will ask you if you want Windows to connect to Windows Update to search for the software, select "YES, this time only" and click Next and then make SURE "Install the software automatically [Recommended]" is checked and click Next again, it will run through it's little setup, and hopefully it will correct your problem. -Don |
