Answer» I have Windows xp and I have TRIED everything to download Publisher 2007. I keep getting an error message that it cannot open the registry key and the setup failed.
Can anyone help me please. Thank you. From where are you trying to download it?From a cd I purchased.Do you mean you are trying to INSTALL Publisher (that's a little different from trying to download it)? If so, are you logged in as administrator? Does it tell you which registry key it can't open?I went to the Microsoft support site but that site is not very helpful and very confusing.Yes I mean install. I tried everything to log in as administrator. That is not working either. I went to control panel and user accounts and tried to change my account to administrator but it didn't work.I don't understand. Are you logged in as administrator or not?No I'm not. I guess that is the problem but I don't know how to change my account so that I can log in as administrator.I have tried everything to log on as administrator and nothing works. I did this and it didn't work. I guess the money I spent for this SOFTWARE program is out the window.
The Administrator account is not displayed in User Accounts unless the COMPUTER is in Safe mode. To change the password for the Administrator account: Click Start, click Turn Off Computer, and then click Restart. After the computer completes the Power On Self Test (POST), press F8, and then click Safe mode.
NOTE: If you have difficulty getting to the Safe mode MENU command, press F8 repeatedly after you turn on the computer. Log on as an Administrator, or with another account that has Administrator permissions. Click Start, click Settings, click Control Panel, and then click User Accounts. Click the Administrator icon. Click Create a Password or Change my password. Type a password for the account, and then retype the password to confirm it. Type a hint to help you remember the password in the event that you forget it. Click Create Password or Change Password. For additional information about how to create and configureBroni where are you when I need you?just to double check. Is this your own computer where you are ALLOWED to be the administrator? Yes it's my computer. I followed the instructions to log on as administrator and now my computer is completely messed up. I tried to do a system restore and it will only give me date as a restore date. I can't even go back to another date to restore it.
