Solve : I had a virus in windows xp accidentally did system recovery instead of restore? |
Answer» After the recovery it went back to original state, but now my drivers wont update, I keep getting library kernell errors, dll errors. I cant get acccess anything with microsoft it shuts me down if I attempt microsoft update. I cant access any of their sites. The service pack went back to 1 and windows 5.5. I cant update to any other service packs or windows. I tried to go to pchealth cd NET and download programs that could fix this for me but I get a library kernell error after downloading each program. Can Anyone help or suggest? If you have the original media that came with the system or should have been burned to disc or made into bootable thumb drives, I would rebuild it from the media back to clean out of box state from factory. Virus's like to block you from access to websites/tools that would remove them. Booting from CD, DVD, or thumb drive and setting it back to factory would fix this. If you have the original media that came with the system or should have been burned to disc or made into bootable thumb drives, I would rebuild it from the media back to clean out of box state from factory...He did a System Recovery, so no NEED for that. It's likely SP1 is the issue. Downloading the latest service pack & installing should fix all. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=24 Quote I cant get acccess anything with microsoft it shuts me down if I attempt microsoft update. They stated that they cant get to microsoft, so they need to Backup personal data to thumb drive or external drive if any important data is STILL on drive, then bring it back to factory clean state using system recovery media, and then set it back to the same it was fresh out of box, which should be healthy working condition without issues! If wiping the system clean and setting it back to factory shows issues then the recovery set may have been corrupt somehow, or a virus etc touched on the system recovery partition to make for problems if it was run without Discs and just triggered off the cripled os to hit start the recovery from the partition allocated for recovery media such as D: etc. From No, they stated they can't get to MS Update. I gave direct link to SP3. Does not require using Microsoft Update. It's a 300MB download. It's too late to backup anything since they already did the Recovery. I THINK the issue is IE5.5 doesn't support the latest ActiveX for authentication. |
