i have an extremely bad problem with directX... here's how it started....
(just look at the bottom for the point of what I'm tyring to say)

once upon a time there was a kid that was really bored and wanted to play a video game called quake 2. he asked his mom if he could install it and she said "yes". so the kid put the disk in the computer, but the disk had an error in it that when he put it in it went to a directX 6.0 install. so the kid clicked install on the directX and it said directX has successfully installed. but he did not realise that he had just downgraded his dirextX 10 or 9 to 6.0. so he tried to install quake but his CD driver was way too fast so he could not install it. the next morning he wore up and ate Cheerios and then he went up to his computer and clicked on warcraft3 and after like 40 secants it would not launch and just froze. so then he redid that like 4 times then a window pooped up and said "warcraft 3 was unable to initialise directX. please ensure that you have directX8.1 or newer installed."so then that idiot looked for warcraft 3 so he could reinstall his driver to 8.1 but he could not find it because his parents moved it. so he went on download.com and got directX9.0 and installed on his computer. but it still would not work. then 2 WEEKS later he came back from halloween after trickortreating with his Friend and remembered that his Friend had warcraft3 so he barrowed it from his Friend and when he went home he tried REINSTALLING 8.1 but it said you already have directX 8.1 or newer installed. he was f**ed.

to make the long story short(i need to do that because my teacher was hammering me for a late assignment about a bad problem) i need hemp to make my games path to my directX9.0 or whatever because that's a bad problem for me.

I think the whole problem stemmed from eating cheerios. everybody knows that cheerios cause directX problems. You should try switching to corn flakes. Not frosted flakes, mind you, too much sugar, windows already has enough candy coating, you see.


But on to your problem.


uninstall and reinstall warcraft. I couldn't be bothered to wade through the trivial personal STUFF to see if you mention doing so somewhere between eating cheerios and trick or treating, so If you have tried that I apologize.

Start->Run... dxdiag

what version does dxdiag say you have? Does it report any ISSUES?

it said i have directX9.0c but when i was Turing back to my browser i ACCIDENTALLY clicked on wc3 and it fixed the problem perfectly.

im finaly happy now Cheerios Rule ! !Im'a leave the post till sunday the 9Th so people can read it, people seem to enjoy reading my Minny story.I agree, but unfortunately, for reasons scientists have yet to discover, eating cheerios and subsequently using a computer can cause directX problems. it's been pondered for ages, and many believe it's a loophole (LOL) in the system.


The problem is so rare that it hasn't been reported to general mills, so they can't issue a patch for their cheerios. It's a sad state of affairs. Perhaps an incompatibility with the milk, a bowl retainment error- who knows? in test situations,using a six slice toaster while pondering how cheerios cause directX problems made many subject break into convulsions or start uttering quotes from cancelled 80's sitcoms.
