Answer» MY monitor can only display on 800x600 resolution, if I attempt to put it any higher, the screen goes black and it says out of scan range. I think that the cause of this problem s the driver, but I do not know how to repair it.
Also the CD and dvd drive are not working..what should i do?What happened before this started? What graphics card do you have? What OS do you have? And how old are the CD/DVD drives, and what make/model are they?I don't exactly remember what hapeened before this started, one day I just turned on the computer and it said the message, so I had to start in another mode, VGA mode or something and I set it to 800X600 resolution from there.
Umm, where do I check what graphics card i have?
The operating system that I have is Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2.
The CD/DVD drives are about 2-3 years old, The CD is HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8400B. And the DVD is TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-M1612
Go to Start - Run - type dxdiag - PRESS enter. Go to the Display tab, take a screenshot, and LET us see it (either attach it or use imageshack or similar). This is what it said after the DxDiag scan under the Display tab:
(You have to click on it to view it larger.)OK, you need to find out what video card you have. What's the make/model of your computer? if you don't know, download Everest Home Edition, save a report, and attach it to your NEXT post.
