I need to INstall Windows 2000 on my laptop. The laptop has linux on it now, but i do not know the password. I put the windowns 2000 disk in the cd-ROM and it COMES up "DISK BOOT FAILURE, PLEASE INSERT SYSTEM DISK" some one helpDoes your laptop have a floppy drive? If it has linux then you cant install windows on it unless you had partion the hard drive. Also can the CD be booted from the CD ROM or does it have to get into BIOS to run the CD. To test the CD out enter system setup and change boot sequence to CD ROM first.How do you partion the HD, the CD Rom task is SET first.Well you need a floppy to enter DOS and from there you use fdisk.exe

Doso,then create a new partition and then CHOOSE that to install Win2000 to. It is very simple to do.
