Solve : inserting a picture into a resume or cover letter? |
Answer» I've been trying to insert my picture into a cover letter and or resume. I've only had moderate success with MS Word. Can you recommend a program to do this? I can re size the picture and place it in the letter but the spacing isn't quite right. If I put the picture on the right it's like the picture takes up the whole space from left to right on the page and I can't insert any text to the left of the picture and it looks not quite right. Your version of Word?More important, NEVER put a photo on a resume or cover letter.Quote from: gord99 on May 29, 2010, 07:13:37 AM If I put the picture on the right it's like the picture takes up the whole space from left to right on the page and I can't insert any text to the left of the picture and it looks not quite right.I understand what you're trying to do and it can be done but Allan raised an important POINT about photos on resumes and/or cover letters. Quote from: Allan on May 29, 2010, 12:13:04 PM More important, NEVER put a photo on a resume or cover letter. Why may I ask? It's unprofessional. NEVER put a photo on a resume.Generally, companies don't want a photo on or with resumes for legal REASONS. Back in the 1940's, 1950's (before my time to submit resumes) it was not unusual for companies to ask for photos with resumes or applications. Then in the 1960's (don't HOLD me to the exact dates), some companies started getting sued for racial DISCRIMINATION based on the photo being that of a minority and they weren't considered for the job. After that companies just stopped accepting all photos just to be safe. |
