Solve : Installing Printer Drivers Ricoh Color Laser AP204?

Answer»

Okay, a friend of mine plugged in his Ricoh Color Laser AP204 Printer, and it prompted him to download the drivers.
I've located a site which APPEARS to have the drivers. Here's the site... http://support.ricoh.com/bb/html/dr_ut_e/ra/model/p204/p204en.htm

He downloaded the drivers for Windows XP onto his desktop. The file appears to be a self extracting "Win Zip Self Extractor" .exe
The .exe extracted the files to  the "C:\Temp\r40063L5\" DIRECTORY. It created three folders in the directory, each are named disk1, disk2, and disk3. All three disks have lots of strange files in them. My friend is running Windows XP.

How can he get the drivers installed so his printer will work?  :-?

ANYONE have any ideas? Any help would be appreciated. :-/ Quote

34 minutes and you are bumping your own thread?

First off unplug the printer. Go to disk 1 and see if there is a file called setup. Click on that and follow the instructions. Is this a USB printer?Heh, maybe I've been a little bit too hasty.

I looked in disk1, and there is no such file. Although there is this setup config file. No this is not a USB printer. I believe it is an LPT printer.

[edit]I would unload the whole thing, but it is too big.[/edit]Plug the printer in and run the Add Printer WIZARD if it isn't detected.
I do hope you didn't look too hard to find those drivers as Windows XP has NATIVE support for this printer:

Incidentally, they are the correct drivers. Just point the wizard at your Disk1 folder to install them. Thanks, I'll pass the information on. No, I didn't look too hard. It was just one google search away.
