Solve : Is always best to use updated drivers?? |
|
Answer» Hi all again. and what makes you think it's installing the windows 2000 drivers? This also begs the question of where this XP CD is from.... yes I ALREADY tried that SITE. The reason why is that the installer for the 178.24 driver installs in the "Win2k" folder, hinting it is installing the Windows 2000 driver only. And also after restarting the computer as it tells me to, the colours of everything in XP are all garbled/distorted as it is using the 2000 drivers. When I roll back to 91.31 (this says its compatible with only Win XP/2000 and Windows XP Media Centre Edition, hence the file NAME: '91.31winxp2kmce_english_whql'), the installer installs in the "Win2kXP" folder and all the colours and everything else is normal, even though the driver is outdated. I'm thinking that I have to install the media centre editions of these geforce drivers.I've been researching and the latest driver does not list my NVIDIA 7800 GTX 512MB in the 'products supported' page while the 91.31 driver does list it in its 'products supported' page... Would the latest driver still support it? It still lists the normal NVIDIA 7800 GTX and it has something on the 7800 GTX 512mb in the release notes. I found this is the newest driver for the 'Win2kXPMCE' http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_94.24_2.html it lists my graphics card as supported or should I use this? http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_181.20_whql.html |
