Solve : Is Malware Bytes free ??

Answer»

My I.S.P. recommends Malware Bytes. They said it's a good program & 'free'. I tried to register, but it seems I have to pay for an ID & a key . ??
Explain please? And is there another really free reliable malware remover? I can't afford to pay for one now.
Thanks !Quote from: sherry! on November 29, 2011, 02:29:49 PM

I use the free version. I UPDATE it and run it about once a WEEK. Quote from: sherry! on November 29, 2011, 02:29:49 PM

There are two versions of Malwarebytes, Free and Not free!
I recommend to users only to download the free version and use that.

Malwarebytes is the number one best free malware remover (IMO)
Using the Free version, you must update it yourself to the latest definitions, then perform a quick scan.
Once the scan has completed (approx ~ 5 mins) select all found malwares and remove them.
Malwarebytes may also ask to restart your computer to finish cleaning the malwares presently in use by your system.

I update and run a quick scan with free Malwarebytes usually every second day!
Malware Bytes is NOT my number one PC Security Program, but it's definitely number two.
I use it a lot, for de-bugging customer's PC's.
Trojan Hunter is another program that will run FREE for thirty days, enough time to completely DE-Bug any PC.

Even if you download and install the FREE version, it will still ask you if you want to register it. Of course, you have to buy a KEY if you want to register it. Otherwise, just go ahead and run it as the FREE version, which will NOT update itself automatically or run daily scans, automatically.

I liked the FREE version so well, that I bought it. It RUNS right along side my AVG 2012 Internet Security program and gets its own updates and runs its own scans once every day. The retail version is great for those who EITHER WON'T do ANYTHING to protect themselves or those who just plain forget.

For instance, I know darn well that Spybot Search & Destroy posts their updates on every Wednesday, but sometimes I get busy and don't get those updates till Thursday or Friday. Shame on me!

Happy Holidays Everyone,
