Solve : Issue with video card / new motherboard?

Answer»

Hey all,

I recently got a XFX nForce 680i LT SLI Motherboard.  My graphics card is an XFX GeForce 9600 GSO.  I installed it and everything runs FINE except the display will only display 640 X 480 resolution. If i change it to 1280 X 768, it'll refresh the monitor but it remains at 640 X 480. I uninstalled the nvidia graphics driver and reinstalled the nvidia motherboard chipset (Audio, ethernet, etc).  After that i was able to change the resolution with no problems, but anything graphics-wise was incredibly sketchy, so i downloaded and installed an updated nvidia driver for the video card and the problem came back and now i can't get out of 640 X 480 resolution without UNINSTALLING the driver software. Is there a compatability issue? I tried the nvidia website but just got lost in a sea of Q&A's.Which monitor do you use , check the refresh rate ?
I have an acer X221W 22" widescreen LCD Display.  The refresh rate is at 60 Hertz. I tried to change it and the same thing happens; the screen refreshes but it stays the same.Is this a fresh install of XP?
In other words, did you have the motherboard etc installed, maybe with another card, and then install this 9600GSO?
The latest drivers for your card are here - if this is a totally fresh install, i.e. NOTHING to lose, I'd say you may as well reformat and reinstall XP, to make SURE nothing goes wrong.
Install the motherboard drivers first, rebooting when prompted, then those graphics drivers, and see if that helps.

Let us know.Ok, thank you to all who replied and helped out.

I went to the nvidia forums and searched around for about an hour and found out the problem.
I had to uninstall "Spyware DOCTOR" and restart my computer.
Can't explain it but it worked. Everything is running perfectly now.
