Solve : issues with AIM?

Answer»

I'm having problems sending and recieving FILES through AOL instant messenger. I have tried doing research and I've found more of the same answer...Having to do with firewall SETTINGS whether it's thru AIM or the computer itself. I haven't had this PROBLEM before when I was using a regular PC. If this makes any difference, I now own a DELL Inspiron 6000 lap top and now I'm experiencing this problem. I've messed around with the Firewall settings on numerous occasions but have never gotten to the bottom the problem. It's really frustrating. I'm a musician and I enjoy sharing music over the internet via AIM. Is there ANYONE who could SAVE THE DAY!?Does disabling your firewall allow you to send files?I disabled the Windows Firewall--messed with AIM's firewall settings--I still can't seem to fix the problem--let me know if you have any ideasHow are you connected to the Internet?Do you have another firewall besides Windows XP SP2 ? What are you using for virus protection? Some virus protection programs require you to accept the file before it is downloaded... Or it might just block it wihout asking you depending on your settings...

[glb]FLAME[/glb]i'm connected to the internet through LAN--through the schools network. But I had the same problem using a wireless connection--I have a feeling it's some setting in the computer--I am using Norton Anti-virus/Norton Internet security. That's the scoop for now. Thanks again for trying to help with this.Guys--miraculously--I can send and recieve files now--and I'm pretty sure it's because I just updated my Windows--not sure specifically what happened but after updating windows, now it works--thanks guys for your helpCome back and see us if you have any more questions!
