Answer»

Hello there

The belkin wireless network adapter (usb) i just want to install the drivers for it, but not the rest of the software that comes with it.

I am using windows xp , and i have the belkin cd , but what is the PROPER way just to get the drivers off it

What else comes with it?
Select custom install, and you may get choices.Quote from: Broni on January 03, 2009, 06:47:25 PM

hello broni

its just the cd, with the adapter.
I am going to do it later, for a FREIND, so iam just getting some advice.....

its snowing here, i will have to get the sledge out for the lad Keep in mind we can't see the contents of the CD from here on account of the snow...diden't last long? melted

Would this way do the same, if you installed all of the software on the cd, and then set the adapter to be managed by windows.

Then go to services, disable the bt wireless manager (WAC)

Then go to MSCONFIG and "uncheck the belkin wireless adapter" so it doe's not restart the next time the computer boots up.

And hopefully the wireless connection is just managed by windowsAhhh...i see it now.
Many times it needs just the .INF file...this can be right clicked and select merge.Quote from: patio on January 04, 2009, 03:59:23 PM

in program files under belkin, there are three folders
USB F5D7050
WIRELESS UTILITY
LANGOpen the USB folder...there will probably be sub-folders with names of Windows versions...
Open the version of your Windows and list the files...Quote from: patio on January 04, 2009, 06:05:44 PM

Try clicking the Belkin Wireless Utility icon...Quote from: patio on January 05, 2009, 08:34:41 AM
Try clicking the Belkin Wireless Utility icon...

just looking on my computer, clicking on the belkin wireless utility icon , will bring up the interface to manage your connections (etc)

I will be doing this later for a freind, when i installed the belkin wireless adapter on my computer, i installed everything, but had a few problems, disableing the belkin wireless software.

once i had disabled the bt wireless software and got windows to manage the wireless connection
everything was fine.

I had "unchecked" the belkin wireless utility from the system configuration utility so it doe's not start up.

But do not want to go down that road again, i just want to be able to get the drivers of the cd,
but with it being someone else's computer, i do not want to be makeing mistakes

BT is the ISP ? ?
If so the other option is to go ahead and install they're crud and once up and running disable it using a nice little app called StartupCPL from Mike Lin...
