Solve : keyboard not working... HELP!!!?

Answer»

windows will not recognize any PS/2 keyboard i plug in, you can see the error below. i have tried 3 keyboards, and uninstalling the driver on each, even in safe mode it doesnt work to uninstall it. i have no P&P keyboard to use, nor do i have money to buy one.

i am using the win osk to type with (on screen keyboard), expect typos as i am not going to fix anything minor while using this craptastic program.

thanks in advance. BTW,the keyboarrd worked last night.

[old attachment deleted by admin]Dead_Reckon ..... It would appear that drivers are required . Where you doing anything last night which may have removed or damaged them ?

no,as i said, it didnt work this morning, but worked last night. the generic drivers worked before i turned it on this morning. wont work with any PS/2 keyboard that i've tried in normal or safe mode. i dont know if its a port issue or what though. What happens if you boot with your operating system CD?

It reads a CD, and and the keyboard works there just not in windows, but reformatting and reinstalling windows is not an option.. I have almost 90GB out of 290GB used, and I have no way back it up at the moment. I'd just like to be able to fix this problem. I was able to use a voice recognition software to type this message. though it is slow and sometimes inaccurate, once I train it should be better than typing. But as of now, it's quite annoying to type with. however, I need my keyboard video GAMES and such, so if anyone can help, please do so. Although not a solution you can get a PS2 to USB adapter...

It works on boot but not in Windows tells me the port is not fried.

Start/Run and type in sfc /scannow and hit Enter just for grins...long as it doesnt screw up my nvidia or audio drivers..
It shouldn't at all...it's designed to check all Windows installed system files and replace any that might have gotten corrupted.that fine.. but... will it finish this century..?Be patient...you might have more than one issue.

Interrupting it can cause mucho grief....it didnt fix anything.. srry for the wait on the reply. had to use the hdd with the keyboard issue. i did find the error below when i tried to find a fix to this prob.. anyone know if this is the prob? if you know how to fix this, please tell me..

[old attachment deleted by admin]SFC should have fixed this issue...did you let it run to completion ? ?

You might be looking at a repair install.

Buy a PS2 keyboard...every computer user should have one if just for emergencies.
Let's say you cannot get XP to boot and you need to run the Recovery console...since Windows isn't loaded neither are the USB device drivers. If you have a USB keyboard you are out of LUCK...
