Solve : Loading favorites or bookmarks into Firefox? |
|
Answer» My computer crashed recently and along with it my BOOKMARKS. Fortunately I backed them up into a file I called bookmarks. When I try to IMPORT them from the file into the program, it doesn't work. I have been to the Mozilla knowledge base and what they instruct to do there doesn't work. I have tried to load them on IE so that I could import from there and that doesn't work, either. I renamed the file to bookmarks.HTM and that doesn't work either. I have googled the net to see if there's software out there that will convert the file to an html file and I haven't found anything. I can open those bookmarks anywhere but in Firefox. Is there a SOLUTION to this problem? No, but if you ever get them back there is a free program to backup Firefox bookmarks (and Thunderbird mail). It works great. I renamed the file to bookmarks.htm and that doesn't work either. What was the original file name? The file should be bookmarks.html and a .htm file can be renamed with the proper extension. Use the search function to locate the EXACT folder where Firefox has stored the bookmarks. Rename or overwrite the existing file with your bookmarks.html file. Be certain that the file you saved can be opened with Firefox before doing this. To do this, highlight the file name, hold down the shift key and right click. Select 'Open with' and then choose Firefox from the list. If Firefox successfully opens the file, you should be be good to go.The file extension info would be helpful at this point...Patio, have you tried MozBackup?Yep and i love it... |
