Solve : Lost CD-Drive? |
Answer» Hi...can anyone help...I have put all my family photos on a CD...but when I put the CD back in to view ...there was nothing. Checking in--my computer--c-drive...it is not there...have I DELETED it in some way. Please help DWhat OS? also, what exactly is it you've deleted? the Drive itself? or the CD? Try looking in my computer--D drive (or E drive if you have two partitions on your HD). Check your device manager. Hi....thanks for your reply. I only have LOCAL disc c. in my hard disc drives... but I did have local disc CD also. but now it is not there. I dont know what has happened to it. Now my cds will not show or play. confusedOkay. Do you know the letter of the CD drive? (example: HD is "C", floppy drive is usually "A") Click on my computer and open it. Is there a "D" drive listed anywhere? Not CD, just D. Also, does the drive show up in Device Manager? Quote
Is the CD empty or can you not find the CD-ROM drive?I think I understand... 1. Put family's photos on a CD 2. Wanted to view them...so put CD into drive 3. Went to My computer and then to the "C drive" to see them...but they weren't there... 4. Thinks may have deleted. To Diana... You need to view D drive from My computer...not the C drive. The C drive is the hard drive. D is generally the CD-ROM drive. Winxp maybe you need the cdgone patch>>have a read>http://aumha.org/regfiles.htmMy cd drive is also gone; however, it does not show up in my computer or in device manager. In BIOS it shows not installed. How do I recover it? Will I have to reinstall the entire operating system, a driver, or just what? I have Windows ME. It came installed with the computer, but not sure if that included the driver or just what I need to do. Not sure what happened to it, unless I somehow deleted it...hopefully not. Thanks much. Quote In Bios it shows not installed. If the BIOS does not show the CD-ROM drive, it may be broken. Reconnect the Molex power connector and IDE/ATA flat ribbon cable. They may have become loose. If that does not work, test the CD-ROM drive on another IDE/ATA channel and cable.I'm having the same problem. I installed the Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 software, and the next time I started my computer I got a pop-up saying that a driver was causing stability problems and was disabled. Now the D drive won't appear in My Computer and I can't read CDs. I already made sure that the the ribbon cable is plugged in correctly. It SEEMS to me like I need to replace the driver. What do you GUYS think?Try reinstalling the device by removing it from the device manager.Winxp maybe you need the cdgone patch>>have a read>http://aumha.org/regfiles.htmTHANK YOU Merlin! It worked!Ok is nice to have it working again.......take care...... |
