Solve : Malwarebytes no longer free...but it is.? |

Answer» I have used this forum a few times to help me and friends. I recently referred it again to someone and decided to go through clean up steps on my PC. When I got to the Malwarebytes step, I could not FIND it on my PC and downloaded it again. After installing, it announced that my free trial had expired and that I needed to buy the premium version. I have been RUNNING it periodically for years. Are you going to replace it with another free utility? Thanks, JimMalwareBytes most certainly DOES still have a free version https://www.malwarebytes.org/lp/lp4/02_r/?gclid=CLT7z_uh4b8CFU4F7AodMy0AbQThis is the 4th time I have uninstalled it and downloaded. First using the link in the Malware forum, then following Google Search and now your link. I just got the same your trial has expired but this time, hit scan and it started to scan. Clever way to get you to buy the annual subscription. Screen shot below: [recovering disk space, attachment deleted by admin]They give you a free trial period of full-time scanning. After the trial period has run out, you NEED to initiate the scans yourself.I remember now why I deleted it. I get a pop up window every day saying the database is out of date and after 5 or 6 clicks to update now it finally went away. I get a pop up window every day saying the database is out of date and after 5 or 6 clicks to update now it finally went away. I just did the same thing. I counted two clicks. Scan Now, and Update Now. "Scan Now" told me it needed to update the database stuff, and I clicked Update Now. When it finished it started the scan. As I recall the "Trial" stuff is either a checkbox in the installer or when you first launch it opting to initiate a free trial of their Premium version. And to correct whats been said there are no annoying popups sayin database is old...only when you invoke it for a scan... I'm seriously considering changing the Topic title because everything stated is inaccurate at best.I agree that it is still free. The free trial expiration banner did throw me for a while until I noticed that I could still scan anyway. I did delete it because I kept getting a pop up window that after repeated clicks to update the database would not go away. This was not when I initiated a scan. That did happen again after reinstalling and after 5 clicks went away and has not as of yet reappeared. I was an IT professional for 25 years so this post is not from you average doesn't pay attention customer! I got concerned because I recommend your anti malware service to folks and when one of your MAIN tools behaved differently then in the past I thought you all should know. Thanks for what you do, it is a great service.Your more than Welcome...and Thanx to you for spreading the word...I Don't think anything about MBAM has changed ,except that it now has a ridiculous User-interface that makes it look completely scammy. They have always offered a premium version. However, what changed I believe is that it now defaults to a Premium trial, rather than the free version as it used to. If anything the change to the UI is possibly of more concern. MBAM is now visually indistinguishable from the myriad of completely scam "Anti-malware" programs that are available. I didn't use it right away after they changed it myself and when I ran it the first time I thought I had contracted some trojan that was attempted to hijack MBAM in some way. That PAIRED with the pre-checked "Premium" option starts to edge MBAM into the 'scammy' territory, I think.content deleted by allan Try this License its the one i use it for my Customers.. Hope this helps What lucky customers - I can't think of a better person to be dealing with my computer than someone who seems happy to install pirated software on it... We do not support or condone this here and this is certainly not a good first impression of you on this forum... Unlike you, most of us actually buy software if we want it rather than stealing it! post edited by allanI've blocked the new poster's account and deleted the license key from his post. I also deleted the same data from the quote in the above post. I was stumped when I first saw the new UI. It's extremely generic, corporate and unnecessarily designed to appease to new users. It looks like shocking software such as regedit and it's ilk. With the added check box for premium services added to the installation process I fear it's just a matter of time before we see toolbars etc added.
