Answer» Norton SafeGuard- HTTP://www.symantec.com/norton/theme.jsp?themeid=safe_search
McAfee SiteAdvisor- http://www.siteadvisor.com/
Which one is better?Neither are as good as WOT. http://www.mywot.com/And both should be AVOIDED IMHO...Well, I do have WOT, but I still need something for backup, in CASE the WOT rating is inaccurate. Which one? If both suck, what else can I use? The other web rating tools all SCAN websites for malicious content. That makes them prone to being very inaccurate. Just because there is nothing considered to be a virus on a website does not MEAN it's a good website. That's what makes WOT more accurate is because websites are evaluated by people, not computers.
If you want a second one then there are a few to choose from. But I don't see the need.
Here are the ones I know about. I'm always looking for new ones to add to the list.
Norton Safe Web McAfee SiteAdvisor Finjan Secure Web Browser Defender Haute Secure WOT Web of Trust AVG LinkScanner Sitehound Firetrust Ltd McAfee TrustedSource Netcraft Anti-Phishing Toolbar Web Security Guard ZProtect TrendProtect Wow, thanks for all the links!
But, out of all of them, which is best, besides WOT? Just the best, overall. WOT and common sense browsing habits...I've been testing out Norton Safe Web Lite "Beta" for a few days now and it's pretty good. But, they do scan websites and like I said above that can be a very inaccurate way of rating. I found a very reliable site (malwareremoval.com) marked red by Norton. WOT is still more accurate. You can close the Norton safe Web toolbar and it will still warn on red websites.
I don't know if it will stay free after it goes to a final version or they will add it to their security suite. Details at the Norton Beta Center.
