Solve : MediaImpression Arcsoft software? |
|
Answer» Yes, guys, it's me again! Okay, don't laugh, but I have a Kodak (I know - no LONGER around) Playsport video camera. I haven't used it in a while and decided to charge it up and video my outside yard decorations. So, no problem, I did that. I come back into the house, hook it up to the computer, I no longer have that software anymore. It must have gotten lost in the transference of old computer to new, even though I did not attempt to do that, I had a computer repair service do it. I googled it and there is a download that is free, but other sites say that program isn't available any longer. Do I trust the Arcsoft website for the free download? Do I try another kind of program, and if so, what? Or do I just give up and buy a smart phone like normal people? I have Windows 10, Dell Inspirion, Intel i5-4460, [email protected] 3.20GHz, Ram 8 GB, 64-bit operating system. I get so frustrated when things aren't simple which makes me glad you guys are here. You always give me the best advice, even if I don't always understand it and have to ask more stupid questions, and this time I'm not sure I'm going to like the answer, but I don't know what to do. Can you steer me in the right direction? Again??? PS no such thing as a stupid question... I accept your challenge.... Patio is right though Oh no, I already have another question. I got the MediaImpression Arcsoft loaded, but when I try to import my videos from my Playsport, a little blue window comes up from the right side of the screen telling me my Drive F has failed and to fix the problem by scanning Drive F. How do I do that? Is drive F: the phone > ? ? If so the phone may have gone South.I don't know, Patio. That's what comes up and when I look at My PC, it shows a Drive F when I have the Playsport plugged in. Now I did find where I was to type in Command Prompt on my search, run as administrator, and type in SFC/SCANNOW, but when it asks for administrator, everything I put on there comes back as not recognized for internal or external command. I don't know what else to put there. I can't get any further because I don't know the "administrator" name. Now what? There is a space between the command...and the switch/ In other words sfc...space.../scannowI suspect you made out a relatively benign NOTIFICATION to be more than it is, Debby. it's not uncommon for those who have a "fear" of computers on some level- I remember because 15 years ago I was the same way- making mountains out of molehills or over-interpreting messages to mean something scarier or bigger than they were. I mulled over a "Missing Operating System" message for a good week, trying to struggle with the existential and philosophical meaning of the message like it was a quote from Socrates. Anyways, From your description I suspect this was the notification/box that appeared? (MINE is Orange because of my personal system preferences- the different colour doesn't mean anything in this case) It's really just a warning that there *could* be issues with the volume/drive because it was for example ejected without using the safely remove feature or could have minor corruptions. It is *not* in any way saying the drive has failed! It's an incredibly poorly written message however because 90% of the time there isn't anything wrong with the drive- Windows just wants you to scan it because there *might* be a problem, and I think it get's it's jollies from bossing us around. You can scan the drive by clicking the notification. That one I took a picture of there? That happens everytime I plug in the drive. I just haven't bothered to click it and scan it. As to getting the photos you took, you can open File Explorer and navigate to the F: drive. You should be able to find your photographs and videos and image and movie files, then copy and paste them to your documents folder or wherever you would like. If you miss clicking the notification and want to get rid of it by scanning the drive, you can also right-click on the drive letter and select Properties, then, in the properties window, click on the "Tools" tab, there is a button there to perform Error Checking on the drive. SFC is the "System File Checker"- it's a different scanning tool which is for scanning your Windows Installation for corrupted files. It wouldn't be related to your F:\ drive error. (Mind, it won't hurt anything either, I suppose)Okay...with all the great help I'm getting, and as BC_Programmer called it "making a mountain out of a molehill", I replugged in my Playsport again. This time it downloaded the program from the Playsport and I thought I was good to go. I couldn't get anything to happen, hence all the questions. There is this little blip my husband found somewhere on the internet about the Playsport. It has charging problems, and you cannot do anything about it as Kodak is gone. However, you can move the connection with your fingers and see if you get the light to stay on, you may even have to rubber band it, clothespin it, tape it, to get it to work. So I had the MediaImpression Arcsoft open and I was thinking the reason it won't import the video was because of the error I was getting (yeah, that's the one I got BC_Programmer) and I started messing around with the cord connection. I was really frustrated when I looked up and lo and behold...there were my videos! Success! Now I shared them on FB and they really came out good. My problem seems, to me, that I am afraid of doing something wrong and screwing up my whole computer because I got my first computer 17 years ago and I do not feel any further advanced now than I was then. Sure, I do figure out more things than I did, but I just don't get the "workings" or "guts" of a computer like I should. I got a card making program and cannot for the life of me figure it out. I had one on an old computer and loved it, had no problems with it. New one, not so much. One day I may get brave and "branch out", but when I do, I'll have to go to someone else's house and use their computer to ask you guys what to do!!! Ya just gotta laugh at me! Thank you for all the help! I have learned a lot through you guys through all these years! I HOPE EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS! In my case, I think part of the reason I was able to learn PCs was because I was "forced" to do so in order to use them. That message was what I got the first time I turned on a PC that I owned, since it was a rather old system that I had given to me. I might never have even bothered to learn as much about them if it was optional, but being that I had to, I think I became more aware of other interesting things that I also didn't know about- and each success was the positive feedback that drove me to learn even more and try other things. Considering I hated computers to begin with and only wanted to use it to entertain myself because I was bored, I think it turned out rather well. And a Merry Christmas to you as well! |
