Answer» I have two identical drives, 1 TB each. I have about 300 GBs on drive A and about 450 on drive B. Is their software what will merge the data into 1 750GB Raid 1 "Mirror Set".
Or, if that not possible.
I copy the 300 on disk A to Disk B then run some sort of deduplication script? any freeware dedup software?
Thank you for any input.
JayWhat you want and what you get will be two THINGS that may differ. If folders h at root have same names, there is a conflict. If files i folders of the same name at the same level are the same names, you have a confict.
Sorry, I have a hard TIME explaining this. I MEAN to say that if both drives have the same directories, you have a conflict. And if you MERGER the directories and there are files with the same name, you have a conflict.
You have to decide how to organize duplication. Please read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_synchronization
WARNING: If you Google for software that es this, you will get some that are hostile sites. The KEYWORDS you chose will bring up sites that have optimized for Google because they want your money.
I think this one is safe to look at. But I have not used it. http://www.allwaysync.com/Quote from: jbeckett on November 14, 2010, 12:23:17 AM I copy the 300 on disk A to Disk B then run some sort of deduplication script? any freeware dedup software?
Does that 300MB include installed programs? If so, that won't work; programs need to installed in the directory from which they be run after being installed. Otherwise, the copying - well, actually, I believe you want to move, not copy - will work.
