Solve : MessengerStatsClient.cab31267.cab?

Answer»

Sorry if this is in the wrong topic. I couldnt find anything more related than "Computer Software".

I've been using Msn Messenger for quite some time already, and for some reason i am unable to use activities with require activeX (such as games) with contacts.

The problem is this. Firstly a popup appears(most LIKELY from windows firewall) stating that they have blocked "MessengerStatsClient.cab31267.cab" because they are unable to confirm its digital signature/certificate. Anyway, they blocked the .cab file.

Nextly, the window(where the activity is to be held) is unable to load. There is an error message there:"ActiveX Objects Missing 2
Messenger games require ActiveX objects in order to play. Please verify that you have the ability to install ActiveX objects on this machine and relaunch your game. "

1. I was the only user on the computer and should have the ability to install activeX objects.
2. Msn messenger is the only program i've ever encountered that had this problem

My guess is that a firewall had blocked "MessengerStatsClient.cab31267.cab" from the msn website (http://messenger.zone.msn.com/binary/MessengerStatsClient.cab31267.cab). I tried turning off my windows firewall. I even turned off my avast! antivirus program. Still the problem reoccured. I also tried restarting the computer but to no avail.

I decided once that this was not IMPORTANT but soon it became an irritation with contacts. Please help. I tried SEARCHING online on this .cab file but found nothing. You may need to reset your security zones to their default setting.

1. Start
2. Settings
3. Control Panel
4. Internet Options
5. Security
6. Reset all 4 (four) zones to their default settings.

Thank you very much. I'm checking if it works now.It doesnt really work but thanks. I've looked closer into the pop up that came up and apparently zone.msn's digital certificate was not considered valid on my computer.

Maybe there are some missing certificates on my computer and i'm going to try and import them from my friends.

Thanks for your helpLet us know if that worked, if you please.i've asked a few frens to help but apparently they CANT find any certificate authorities in their internet options that is similar to those mentioned by the messengerstatsclient.cab31267.cab.

i've ran out of ideas to try to fix the problem. is there another WAY?Do you have programs installed that actively block/uninstall ActiveX not native to the installation of Windows XP?

Microsoft Antispyware is an example of a program that can block/regulate ActiveX elements. The only antivirus/adware/spyware programmes I have installed on my computer are Avast antivirus, Spybot S&D and Adaware. I do not think these will in anyway affect ActiveX. Anyway I have tried closing them down but to no avail. The pop-up you have described earlier, can you find out exactly where this pop-up comes from? The pop up doesnt really have any information on that, but its has the same "shield" logo as the systray's "windows security alerts", so i'm guessing that it came from the windows firewall.

Weirdly, even after i have turned off the firewall, the pop up still continued appearingCan you create and show a screenshot of the pop-up and the icon you are referring to?
