Solve : Microsoft Word - cannot delete control toolbar?

Answer»

Hi,

I have tried the Microsoft suggested method to delete a TOOLBAR:

On the Tools menu, click Customize, and then click the Toolbars tab.
In the Toolbars box, select the custom toolbar you want to delete.
Click Delete.

Doesn't work! [/b] Please advise.

Thanks,
Joe
Sounds to me like you're not really talking about a "custom toolbar", you're talking about one of Word's standard toolbars. And, those can not be deleted; of COURSE, they do not need to appear on your actual toolbars, the ones you have enabled, but they remain in the system so that they can be enabled.

If you've TRULY created a custom toolbar, then you will be able to delete it. Also, keep in mind Word's standard available toolbars, 30 if I counted right, can be customized. I presume you mean a toolbar you've added to that list of standard toolbars. As you can see in the image below, not being able to delete any of the standard toolbars is normal.

Hi,

Thanks for the response!

Attached is the Word panel I cannot delete.

PS How did you paste the image into your REPLY?

[saving space - attachment deleted by admin]Do you mean the one on the left side of the screen?
Can't you just press the little black X?As Deerpark said, just click on the X to remove the toolbar. By the way, that toolbar is called the Control Toolbar.Hi,

Did click the "x" thing a DOZEN times. It keeps popping up when I close and reopen the document,

Thanks for the responses,
Joe
